Race The Tide, Chase The Train

Minehead Running Club, together with the Somerset Series, stages an inaugural coastal race from Blue Anchor to Minehead and back along the coast path beside the West Somerset Steam Railway. The course is approximately 7 miles and follows mixed surfaces including sandy beach at the water’s edge, short grass and tarmac. Runners will meet short stretches of smooth pebbles and some uneven ground; wet feet are likely.

The route is officially unmarked but signs and marshals will guide runners at key points. Water stations are provided at 3.7 miles and 5.5 miles, with first aid located at the turnaround point and at the finish. Race bibs are to be collected from The Bay Eatery. Awards will be presented to the first three men and first three women overall and in age groups 40, 45, 50, 55, 60, 65 and 70 plus; awards must be collected at the presentation and will not be forwarded.

Facilities near the race headquarters include free seafront parking to the east of the HQ, flushing toilets, showers and on-site refreshments for purchase at The Bay. A free T-shirt is included for online entries received before 17 May 2026, with limited availability thereafter. All finishers receive a medal and free ice cream at the finish. Dogs that are well behaved are welcome around the event but may not accompany runners during the race. Headphones are not permitted except for medical reasons.
