Little Dart River Ramble and Run

The event is a near completely off road 17 mile run and walk in Rackenford, North Devon, within the North Devon UNESCO Biosphere. The route follows the Little Dart River from Rackenford to its confluence with the River Taw at Bridge Reeve, Chulmleigh. Participants may run the full distance or walk it alone or as part of a group.

The course crosses fields, wooded valleys, footpaths, river crossings and flower meadows. The route will be marked, but it meanders in and out of sight so participants should pay attention to navigation. Access has been negotiated with riparian landowners and local partners, providing one day of public access to trails that are usually private.

Event provisions include a fully marked route, marshals and at least three feed stations, a wooden medal for runners, first aid, toilets and post event refreshments. There is an option to book transport from the finish at Chulmleigh School car park to the start at Rackenford. A nearby train station at Eggesford is mentioned, with a walk of about a mile to Chulmleigh for the bus connection. Dogs are not permitted at the landowner's request.

Organising partners named include the North Devon Biosphere, Devon Wildlife Trust and Westcountry Rivers Trust. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
