Race on the Chase

Race on the Chase is a trail running event based at Salisbury Racecourse, with on-site permanent toilets, hot showers and a large hard parking area. The venue is about three miles from Salisbury city centre.

All distances follow undulating downland terrain that uses ancient tracks known as droves, grassy field margins, shady woodland paths and areas of the Martin Down nature reserve. The route passes through open countryside and several villages, and runs through a landscape with long archaeological and historic use including Roman, Iron Age and Bronze Age features.

Distances and vertical climb for each course:

  • Marathon: 625 m vertical climb
  • Half marathon: 329 m vertical climb
  • 10K: 133 m vertical climb

GPX route files are provided for each distance. Runners receive a finisher medal, and trophies are awarded to the first three male and first three female finishers in each event. The event makes use of the racecourse facilities for changing and parking and links into wider trail networks and countryside around Martin Down and Cranborne Chase.
