Race for Life Pretty Muddy is a 5k obstacle event at Herrington Country Park in Penshaw, Sunderland. The course follows park paths on mixed surfaces, including tarmac, gravel and some grass, and is slightly undulating. Participants climb, crawl and slide around a series of muddy obstacles. Waves start every 15 minutes to manage participant flow, and marshals are available to assist at obstacles.

Entry categories and fees listed for this event include adults and children, with a minimum fundraising target set for participants. The event includes free general parking on site and designated Blue Badge spaces. Pedestrian access is available from Penshaw village and several buses run along Chester Road close to the park. The nearest train station is Sunderland, approximately five miles away. Bike racks are not provided but bicycles can be locked to the site fence at the owner’s risk.

This event is for people aged 13 and over. It is not suitable for wheelchair users and is not suitable for pushchairs. Dogs are not allowed and there is no bag drop or showers available. On event day the start line is located on the field adjacent to the children’s play area. Registered participants receive a fundraising pack, a customisable back sign, training support, access to the Facebook community and a Race for Life medal on completion.
