Sunderland Pretty Muddy 5k
The event takes place at Herrington Country Park in Sunderland. It is a Pretty Muddy 5k obstacle course organised by Cancer Research UK on Saturday 27 June 2026. The available distances include the Pretty Muddy 5k.
The course follows the park paths with sections of tarmac and gravel, and some stretches on grass. The route is slightly undulating. The start line is located on the field adjacent to the children's play area.
Participants will climb, crawl and slide around a series of obstacles. Waves start every 15 minutes to manage safety on the course. Marshals are positioned on the course to assist and participants may skip an obstacle if needed. Participants must be at least 13 years old. Separate Pretty Muddy Kids events are available for younger children at other events.
Facilities on site include refreshments, toilets and event parking. Blue badge parking is provided and stewards will direct arrivals. There are no electric charging points on site and no designated bike racks. The event is not suitable for wheelchair users and is not suitable for pushchairs. Sunflower wristbands, trained Event Managers and a BSL stage QR code are available to support accessibility needs.
