Preston Pretty Muddy 5k, Avenham and Miller Park

The Preston Pretty Muddy event is a 5k obstacle course taking place on Saturday 06 June 2026 at Avenham and Miller Park, South Meadow Lane, Preston, PR1 8JP. Entry prices listed are Adults £22.49 and Children £12.00, with a minimum fundraising target of £50.00.

The course is a single lap that starts and finishes in Avenham Park and passes through Frenchwood Recreational Ground and Miller Park. The route uses a mix of surfaced paths and grass and includes gentle undulations. The River Ribble forms a scenic backdrop to parts of the route.

The obstacle format involves climbing, crawling and sliding across muddy features. Marshals are available on the course to assist participants who need to skip obstacles. The event is open to people aged 13 and over; a separate Pretty Muddy Kids option exists for children aged 12 and under.

Meeting and event access are based in Avenham Park, in front of the Pavilion Cafe. Facilities listed for the event include refreshments, toilets and parking options nearby. There is no designated event car park; public pay and display car parks such as Fishergate Car Park, Preston Railway Station Car Park and Avenham Car Park are within walking distance. Blue badge parking is available in major car parks and two double EV charging points are noted in Avenham Car Park.

This event site is not suitable for wheelchair users for participation, though the site and Pavilion Cafe are accessible for spectating. A 137 km trail challenge on the Pennine Bridleway with a 50 hour cut-off, indoor checkpoints, bunkroom accommodation and GPX navigation support. Entry is limited to 20 participants and total ascent is 3275 m.

A trail 5 km on a two-lap loop around Clowbridge Reservoir, the first of a three-race spring series in April; open to ages 11 and over with prizes, marshals and proceeds donated to local causes.

Experience a classic 5.6 km fell race in the South Pennines featuring the Blackstone Edge Trig point and Roman Old Road. This fast and rough course is a counter for the FRA English Championship.

Run a scenic 10K trail through the Ainsdale National Nature Reserve. The wooded course includes a climb up the highest dune peak before the finish. All finishers get a medal, and proceeds support local charities.
