Newcastle Pretty Muddy 5k : Town Moor, Newcastle

Newcastle Pretty Muddy is a 5 km obstacle event held on the Town Moor, near Exhibition Park (NE2 3BX). The start and finish are on grass and the course is mainly on grass with small sections on paths. The meeting point is on the field adjacent to the Claremont Road bridge and Exhibition Park.

The event uses staggered wave starts every 15 minutes to manage numbers on course. Participants must be at least 13 years old on the day; there are separate Pretty Muddy Kids events for younger children. Marshals are stationed on course and participants may skip obstacles with marshal assistance.

Facilities on site include refreshments and toilets. The event is not wheelchair accessible; it is not suitable for pushchairs. Dogs, bag drop and showers are not available. No parking is provided on site; attendees are advised to use city centre car parks, with limited roadside parking on Claremont Road. Drop offs are possible at the entrance to Exhibition Park. The closest electric vehicle charging is at the Royal Victoria Infirmary. There are no bike racks.

Trail runs nearby

A seven hour timed trail event along the River Wear in Durham with fully signed laps and multiple distance options. Finishers from 3 km receive a themed medal and there are aid tables, goody bags and distance pins.

A 7 hour trail Time Challenge on Sunday 21 June 2026 in Durham along the River Wear with cathedral views. Distances range from a 3 km minimum up to marathon, 50 km and ultra, with medals, pins and goody bags for finishers.

Trail runs at Chopwell Woods near Rowlands Gill offering 5, 10 and 15 mile routes with live chip timing and canicross access. Finishers receive a medal, a burger or alternative and a drink; on-site parking is very limited.

A Pretty Muddy 5k obstacle course at Herrington Country Park with tarmac, gravel and grassy sections, and climbs, crawls and slides. Organised by Cancer Research UK, participants must be 13 or older and a minimum fundraising target applies.
