Reach Inc. Race for Independence, Bozeman, MT

The 19th annual Reach Race for Independence takes place on Saturday, July 4, 2026, at the Reach Work Center (322 Gallatin Park Drive) in north Bozeman. The event offers both in-person and virtual participation. Proceeds support adults with developmental disabilities served by Reach to increase independence and community involvement.

In-person races follow north Bozeman trails beginning at the Work Center. The trail surface is hard packed, with a few gentle hills and a total elevation change of 40 feet. Participants may observe wetland birds and scenic mountain views. Trail conditions may vary.

  • 1K

Registration opens February 27, 2026. Registration fees are $30 for the 5K and 10K and $20 for the 1K. Registration windows differ for in-person and virtual entries. Virtual participants may complete a 1K, 5K, or 10K route of their choosing on July 4 and share results with Reach.

Packet pick-up is available the day before and on the day of the event at the Reach Work Center. Short-sleeved t-shirts are available to runners and non-runners for $15 on a first come, first served basis. Medals will be awarded at the live race to top finishers in each event and age bracket. Trail runs nearby

A mountain trail ultramarathon held from Middle Cottonwood Trailhead with 30K and 55K options on 100% trails, large vertical gain, minimal aid, drop bag support, and a 130-runner cap; finishers receive an Old Gabe hat.

A 20K trail race at Bridger Bowl with technical single track and cupless aid stations, a four hour cut off, chip timing, a race shirt and catered lunch; packet pickup is available the day before and race morning.

Experience a point to point trail race on the Bangtail Divide Trail near Bozeman Montana. This 38 km event takes runners from Stone Creek to Brackett Creek through mountain landscapes with a field limited to 150 participants.

Mountain trail running near Bozeman, MT with 25 mile and 50 mile backcountry routes across the Gallatin Crest. Routes cross exposed alpine ridgelines and require self-sufficiency and mountain experience.
