Reach Inc. Race for Independence

The 19th annual Reach Inc. Race for Independence takes place on July 4, 2026, in Bozeman, Montana. The event offers several distances for in-person participants, as well as virtual options for those who prefer to complete their distance at a location of their choosing. All proceeds from the event support programs for adults with developmental disabilities to help them lead independent lives.

The race course starts at the Reach Work Center and leads through the trails of north Bozeman. Participants run on a hard-packed trail surface that features gentle hills and a total elevation change of 40 feet. The route passes through areas such as the Cherry River Trail and Glen Lake Rotary Park/East Gallatin Recreation Area. Along the way, runners can observe wetland birds and mountain views.

Medals are awarded to top finishers in each event and age bracket for the live race. Participants can find pre-packaged snacks and bottled water at the event. Short-sleeved t-shirts are available for purchase on a first-come, first-served basis. Packet pick-up is held at 322 Gallatin Park Drive on the day before the race and on the morning of the event.
