Bangtail Divide 38K

The Bangtail Divide 38K is an annual summer trail race along the Bangtail Divide Trail. The 2026 edition is the 14th running and takes place on Saturday, July 4, 2026. The event distance is 38K.

All participants must use the provided shuttle service between the Crosscut Mountain Sports Center parking area and the race start and finish; there are no exceptions. The Forest Service prohibits runner parking at the start and at the finish. The start is on Stone Creek Road and the finish is at Brackett Creek Parking Lot. Participant check-in occurs at the Crosscut Mountain Sports Center parking area.

Packet pickup is at Bozeman Running Company, 132 East Main Street, and must be completed on Friday, July 3, 2026. There is no packet pickup on race day; participants who do not pick up their packets by July 3 will not be able to participate. Registration for the event is listed at $75. The race is cupless.

Awards are presented to the top three overall male and female finishers and to the first Master (45+) male and female. The event does not allow double-dipping for awards; if a finisher qualifies for an overall and a master award, the overall award is given and the master award goes to the next eligible finisher. Volunteers staff aid stations and assist with setup and logistics. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
