Prairie Goat VK
The Prairie Goat VK event will take place on Sunday, August 9, 2026, at SpringHill Winter Park in Springfield, Manitoba. It is a vertical kilometer (VK) race.
The challenge is to accumulate 1000 meters of total vertical gain within a 4-hour time limit. To achieve this, participants run a repeated 400-meter loop featuring a rapid descent followed immediately by a demanding climb back to the summit. Completing 30 laps is required to reach the goal.
All participants receive a commemorative finisher's medal. Trophies are awarded to the VK top finishers and to those who complete the most loops before the cutoff. The event provides an aid station with water, electrolytes, energy bars, and fruit. It is a cup-less event, so participants must bring their own reusable vessel.
Free high-quality course photos are provided. A high-energy playlist accompanies the event. A post-race BBQ is held. Drop bags are permitted. The event is capped at 100 runners. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
