Prairie Chaos Backyard Ultra is an official Backyard Ultra held in Little Mountain Park, Winnipeg, MB on Saturday, August 15, 2026. The event uses a single trail loop of 6.7056 kilometers (4.167 miles) that passes through open prairie and shaded forest with roots, rocks, and rolling terrain. The race format requires completing each loop within one hour; loops continue on the same course until only one competitor remains. The event provides a bib, race socks, a race Buff, and a "Did Not Finish" medal to participants, with a distinctive prize for the sole winner.

Race format, facilities and logistics

Each participant is allocated a personal station near the start/finish corral for crew and equipment. An aid station supplies water, an electrolyte drink, sweet and salty snacks, and some warm food overnight; participants are advised to be self-sufficient because supplies will be limited. Parking near the start/finish includes a main lot of about 40 spots, additional parking off Klimpke Road, and roadside parking on Farmer Road. There is an indoor lodge near the course with four lavatories, sinks, and a small sheltered area with a water fountain; the lodge will be available during specified hours. Portable toilets will also be staged close to the start/finish area. Race rules prohibit artificial aids, personal aid during a loop, and non-competitors on course; competitors must be inside the starting corral at the bell and complete each loop in less than an hour.
