Prairie Chaos Backyard Ultra, Winnipeg MB : August 15, 2026

Prairie Chaos Backyard Ultra takes place Saturday, August 15, 2026 at Little Mountain Park on Farmer Road in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The event uses a looped trail course of 6.7056 kilometers (4.167 miles).

The loop runs through open prairie and shaded forest with sections of roots, rocks and some rolling terrain. The route passes near an indoor lodge that includes four flushing toilets, sinks and a water fountain; portable toilets will also be staged near the start/finish corral. Parking near the corral is roughly 40 spaces with additional parking off Klimpke Road and along Farmer Road.

This is an official Backyard Ultra. Key rules state that each loop must be completed in less than one hour to count, competitors must be inside the starting corral at the bell to start the next loop, and no non competitors are allowed on the course. Competitors may leave the course only for restroom breaks during a yard. No personal aid is allowed during a yard and no artificial aids including trekking poles are permitted. Slower runners must yield to faster ones.

Participants receive a bib, a pair of race socks, a race Buff and a Did Not Finish medal. The sole winner will receive a distinctive prize. An aid station will offer water, an electrolyte drink, sweet and salty snacks and some warm food overnight, but supplies will be limited so participants are expected to be largely self sufficient.
