Prairie Chaos is an official Backyard Ultra held at Little Mountain Park in Winnipeg, MB on August 15, 2026. The course is a loop of 6.7056 kilometers (about 4.167 miles) on trail, moving through open prairie and shaded forest with roots, rocks and some rolling terrain.

The Backyard Ultra format requires each loop to be completed in under one hour to qualify for the next loop. Starts occur precisely one hour after the previous start and competitors must be inside the starting corral when the bell rings. Rules note that competitors may not leave the course during a Yard except for restroom breaks, no personal aid is allowed during a Yard, artificial aids such as trekking poles are prohibited, non-competitors may not use the course, and slower runners must yield to faster runners.

Participants receive a race bib, a pair of race socks, a race Buff and a "Did Not Finish" medal. The single winner receives a distinctive prize. Each participant has an individual space near the start/finish corral for a personal station or crew setup. An aid station will provide water, an electrolyte drink, sweet and salty snacks and some warm food overnight, though supplies are limited and runners are encouraged to be self-sufficient. Facilities include an indoor lodge with flushing toilets and sinks and portable toilets near the start.
