Prairie Chaos Backyard Ultra

Prairie Chaos Backyard Ultra takes place at Little Mountain Park, Farmer Road, Winnipeg, MB on Saturday, August 15, 2026. The event follows the official Backyard Ultra format: runners repeat a loop every hour until only one competitor remains.

The course is 6.7056 km per lap on singletrack and trail. Runners will pass through open prairie and shaded forest, encountering roots, rocks and some rolling terrain. The route goes near an indoor lodge that includes four lavatories with flushing toilets and sinks and a small sheltered area with a water fountain. Portable toilets will be staged close to the start/finish corral.

Each participant receives a race bib, a pair of race socks, and a race Buff, plus a Did Not Finish medal. The sole winner receives a distinctive prize. Participants are assigned individual spaces by the start/finish area for personal stations or crew setups.

An aid station will offer water, an electrolyte drink, sweet and salty snacks, and some warm food overnight. Supplies are limited and participants are encouraged to be self-sufficient with hydration and nutrition. Parking near the start/finish includes approximately 40 spaces, with additional parking off Klimpke Road and along Farmer Road. The event is registered as an official Backyard Ultra and each participant's yards will be included in the At Large category for Big's Backyard Ultra.
