Portland Coastal Marathon

The Portland Coastal takes place on 14 February 2027 at the Weymouth & Portland National Sailing Academy. The event offers three distances and is run on the South West Coast Path around Portland.

  • Marathon: two loops of the island
  • Half Marathon: single loop section
  • 10k: single loop section

The course is self navigation. Participants must download the GPX file in advance and follow it on their device; there will be no event specific route markers. Runners should follow the route instructions for loop one and loop two and pass checkpoints to confirm full course completion. Shortcuts or deviation from the official route can lead to disqualification.

Mandatory kit must be carried for the whole event and may be checked before, during and after the race. Required items include a minimum 500ml fluid capacity, windproof jacket (waterproof recommended), emergency nutrition, head covering, a charged waterproofed mobile phone, a foil blanket or full-size bin liner, a whistle, and a small first aid kit.

Event services include checkpoint refreshments, professional medical cover, chip timing, a bespoke finisher medal, trophies for the top three men and women in each distance, a Portland Coastal buff, free professional race photography, and an optional technical T-shirt (£15). Entries are capped at 500. Traditional earbuds and noise cancelling headphones are not permitted; bone conduction devices are allowed.
