Portland Coastal Marathon
The Portland Coastal event takes place on 14 February 2027 at the Weymouth & Portland National Sailing Academy. The event offers three distances around the Isle of Portland on the South West Coast Path.
- Marathon : two loops of the island.
- Half Marathon : single loop section.
- 10k : single loop section.
The course is a self-navigation coastal trail on exposed terrain in February. Participants must download the GPX file in advance and follow it on their device; there will be no event-specific route markers. Runners are instructed to keep the sea to their left on the first loop and to their right on the second loop. Shortcuts or deviations may result in disqualification and checkpoints confirm full course completion.
Entries are capped at 500. Traditional earbuds and noise cancelling headphones are not permitted; bone conduction devices are allowed. There is professional medical cover, chip timing, checkpoint refreshments, and free professional race photography. Finishers receive a bespoke Portland Coastal medal and a buff; trophies are awarded to the top three male and female finishers in each distance. An optional technical T-shirt is available for £15 and referral rewards are offered via Eventrac.
February weather and coastal terrain mean all runners must carry mandatory kit for the duration of the race; kit checks may take place before, during and after the event.
