Course and navigation

The route follows the Portland section of the South West Coast Path and is a looped course around the island. The event is self-navigation: participants must download the route to a GPS device before race day and follow the downloaded route. The route uses existing fingerpost signs marked with an Acorn symbol; participants are advised not to deviate or take shortcuts. Check-in points are located at feed stations around the island to verify completion of the full course.

Race services and rules

The event provides energy refreshments at checkpoints and the finish, chip timing, printed route maps, free professional race photos, experienced medical cover, and trophies for the first three male and female finishers in each distance. A Portland Coastal Technical Running T-shirt is available to purchase for £13. The race is held under UK Athletics rules. A mandatory kit list must be carried by all participants; items include a 500ml or larger drink container, windproof jacket, emergency nutrition, head covering, charged waterproofed mobile phone, foil blanket or full-sized bin liner, whistle, and a small first aid kit. Kit checks may occur before the start, randomly during the race, and at the finish; missing mandatory kit can prevent starting or lead to disqualification and no refund.
