The Beast 2026

The Beast 2026 is a trail race held on 06 September 2026 around Corfe Castle Common and the nearby Purbeck coast. The event is organised by Poole AC and is the 31st running of this race, which forms part of the Purbeck Trail Series.

The course is about 13(ish) miles and is described as undulating. It sets out from Corfe Castle Common, runs towards Worth Matravers, follows the coastal path with views of the shore, and returns to Corfe via a route that includes several minor hills.

There are four water stations on the course and cups are provided for those without their own. Trophies are awarded across multiple categories and every finisher receives a unique t shirt. The race is licensed by the TRA and held under UK Athletics Rules.

Practical details: the minimum entry age is 17. Dogs and buggies are not permitted and the course is unsuitable for wheelchairs. Entries open on 01 December 2025 and close on 23 August 2026; there is a transfer window until 23 August 2026 with an admin fee of £2. Entry fees are listed as £28 for affiliated and £30 for unaffiliated entrants, plus a small FullOnSport booking charge. No entries are permitted on the day. A family friendly off-road event near Damerham with 5 km and 10 km runs plus a children's colour run; medals, category trophies, refreshments and on-site parking are provided.

An evening trail event on 4 July 2026 based at the Fox Inn in Ansty, Dorchester with a 10k course and 220 m of elevation, venue music and food, accommodation options, finisher medals and trophies to third place male and female.

Trail races of 5, 10 and 15 miles take place in Moors Valley Country Park in Dorset on 5 July 2026. The event includes chip timing, feed stations, medical support and a bespoke finisher medal.

A 50 km trail race from Studland Beach along the Purbeck Way that passes coastal landmarks like Old Harry Rocks and Corfe Castle. One runner is appointed the Ferry who starts at the back and competitors aim to finish ahead of them.
