Jurassic Coast Ultra Run
The Jurassic Coast Ultra Run is a guided trail event that starts and finishes on the beach at Studland Bay and follows routes across the Isle of Purbeck and the Jurassic Coast. The course covers 30 miles and includes roughly 4600 ft / 1400 m of cumulative ascent, making it a very hilly route.
The route goes inland along the Purbeck Way and passes the remains of Corfe Castle. Runners regain the ridge for coastal views, descend to Kimmeridge Bay, then continue east on the South West Coast Path. Notable points on the course include Chapman's Pool, Durlston Head Castle, the town of Swanage, and a finish near Old Harry Rocks on the beach.
The event is led by an experienced ultra runner and running coach who is described as a Salomon ambassador. The route is marked and supported by the guide, and participants have the opportunity to ask running questions during the outing. The description for the event also notes a post-run treat tradition of salty chips and ice cream on the beach. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
