Jurassic Coast Ultra Run

The Jurassic Coast Ultra Run starts and finishes by the beach at Studland Bay and follows a route around the Isle of Purbeck and sections of the Jurassic Coast. The event is an ultramarathon of 30 mile distance with total elevation of about 4600 ft or 1400 m, and the route is described as very hilly.

Participants are guided by an experienced ultra runner who is also a running coach and Salomon ambassador. The route initially follows the Purbeck Way inland toward the ruins of Corfe Castle, a fortress dating from the 11th century built by William the Conqueror. Runners then ascend onto the ridge with coastal views and descend toward Kimmeridge Bay, an area noted for fossils.

From Kimmeridge the course continues east along the South West Coast Path, following the Jurassic Coastline and passing Chapman's Pool, Durlston Head Castle, and the town of Swanage. The run concludes back at the beach near Old Harry Rocks. The event description notes that participants may have salty chips and ice cream on the beach after the finish.

The organiser is Running Adventures, a company based out of Guildford, Surrey. For at least one listed date, tickets for the event are reported as currently sold out. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
