Jurassic Coast Ultra Run

The Jurassic Coast Ultra Run is a guided trail outing that starts and finishes on the beach at Studland Bay and covers 30 miles of the Jurassic Coast and the Isle of Purbeck. The route includes about 4600 ft / 1400 m of elevation and follows a mixture of inland ridge paths and coastal trails.

The route follows the Purbeck Way inland to the medieval remains of Corfe Castle, then climbs onto ridgelines with coastal views before descending to Kimmeridge Bay, known for its fossil beds. The course continues east along the South West Coast Path and passes Chapman's Pool, Durlston Head Castle and the town of Swanage, finishing near Old Harry Rocks on the beach. Participants can expect to finish close to facilities where salty chips and ice cream are mentioned as available after the run.

The event is led by an experienced ultra runner and coach and is organised as a group run rather than a race. Guidance and informal coaching are provided during the outing. Recommended preparation includes having run at least 22 miles in training, being prepared for sustained climbs, and being able to sustain approximately 10 min/miles | 6 min/km pace on trails for prolonged periods. A full kit list is provided in advance. Participants need a vehicle to reach the start and finish; car parking is available. The listed cost for participation is £45 per person. An alcohol free beer may be available at the finish subject to availability. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
