BigSky Trails (AIR) - event overview

BigSky Trails (AIR) is the final event in the Classic Element Trail Series. The next race is scheduled for 20/09/2026 at Hyde Common, Frogham, near Fordingbridge (SP6 2JD). The route starts from the viewpoint at Hyde Common, one of the higher points in the New Forest National Park, and runs across wide open plains and winding forest trails with long horizon views and free-roaming wildlife. The course is fully marked and marshalled and finishes with a run along Hampton Ridge back to Hyde Common. Finishers receive a bespoke event medal; runners may opt to have a tree planted instead of a medal through the Trees Not Tees scheme.

Logistics, kit and support

Aid provision and on-course support include two aid stations on the 18 mile route and three on the marathon, with additional water stations between. Aid stations offer a selection of sweet and savoury snacks, vegan options, water and flat coke. The event is cupless and will also supply PH 1000 electrolyte drink and assorted energy products from Precision Fuel & Hydration.

Mandatory kit and other practical details: all runners must carry at least 500 ml of fluid; hydration vests or handheld soft flasks are permitted. Runners are advised to carry appropriate clothing for changeable weather and to download the GPX route file to a watch or mobile device. A bag drop tent is available. Car parking is at Harry’s Field Campsite, Abbots Well Road, Frogham (SP6 2JA). Cut-off times are 4.5 hours for the 18 mile and 7 hours for the marathon. WRNL Bovington on Saturday 1 November is event two in the Wessex Region Night League: a 60 minute score course across runnable woods, open heath and urban terrain. Fast, tactical night orienteering with marshalled road crossings.

Join the WIM Founder's Trophy at Bere Wood on Sun 2 Nov with courses for all levels. Expect runnable woods, marshy patches, waterproof maps and electronic punching for a fun day out. Entries close 31 Oct.

Join WRNL 3 in Colden Common for a lively 60 minute orienteering score event where you pick controls in any order to rack up points. Lights and hi viz required; hired dibbers available and juniors must be accompanied.

Big Night Out Winchester is a torchlit trail run on the South Downs from Winchester Athletics Track with 12 km and 22 km options. Run by headtorch along ridges and rivers and opt to have a tree planted instead of a finishers medal.

Run a twilight 10 km off road trail through Dorset woods and historic parkland as dusk falls. Enjoy atmospheric scenery, a touch of local ghost lore and medals, trophies and refreshments at the finish; entries are limited.

Join the Southampton MoRun on 9 November 2025 at Southampton Common to support Movember and men's health. Choose 1.5k, 5k, 10k or the half marathon and enjoy a medal, headband and post race treats.
