The event is staged on the El Dorado Trail and passes through oak trees and rolling hills with extended trail views. The course is an out-and-back route heading eastward from the starting location and follows marked ribbons.

Most courses are entirely on a paved bike path; the half marathon continues on dirt and gravel after about 5.6 miles. The route rises on a steady 3% grade to each turnaround and returns mostly downhill. Color-coded ribbons mark turnarounds for each distance, with pink ribbons marking the main outbound route. Several road crossings occur; busier crossings at Carson Road and Jacquier Road will be managed by volunteers. Aid stations are placed along the course, including points near miles 1.5, 3.1, 6, 7.1, 10, 11.6, and the finish. The half marathon has an overall four-hour cutoff; additional midpoint cutoffs apply.

The event is held rain or shine. Strollers are permitted in the 5K, 10K, and 15K distances. All finishers receive a medal. Volunteers support registration, aid stations, course marshals, and safety; volunteers receive a free future race entry. Online, mail-in, and race-day registration options are offered.
