Event overview

This is the seventh and final race of the Crown to Crown 2025 series, held on 26 December 2025. It is an off-road trail race over a measured 5 km route. The course runs mainly on bridleways, beginning on Beeleigh Avenue, continuing along Lee Chapel Lane into the Essex Wildlife Trust Willow Park, looping around the reserve and returning to finish at the Westley Heights car park at the rear of the Miller & Carter (Crown) public house.

Logistics and rules

Entry fees are stated as: England Athletics affiliated adults £2.50, unaffiliated adults £4.50, and 12 to 17 year olds £1.50. On-the-day entries are available at the same price as online. All race fees include online payment processing charges. No children under 12 may run. Dogs, pushchairs and headphones (except bone conductive) are not permitted. All age groups start together in a single mass start. Timing is gun to finish (not chip timed); results are published the following day on the club website.

Course marshals and a tail runner will be in place for safety. First aid will be on course and at the finish, and a defibrillator is available at the finish. Water will be available at the finish; sweets will be provided during registration. Spikes are not suitable because parts of the route include tarmac. The event is held under UK Athletics rules, TRA Permit No. 7072. Cancellation options include a transfer to a future race or a refund minus card processing fees. Runners v Riders is back on 26 December 2025 at Friday Woods, Colchester, where runners and cyclists go head to head for the historic Markham Cup. Expect a festive, muddy off road battle of about 3.5 miles with limited entry and on the day..
