Course, safety and rules

The start and finish are at Westley Heights Country Park, behind the Miller & Carter (Crown) Public House in Langdon Hills. The measured route begins on Beeleigh Avenue, runs onto Lee Chapel Lane, goes through the Essex Wildlife Trusts Willow Park reserve for a loop, returns to Lee Chapel Lane and finishes at the Westley Heights car park. The course is mainly on bridleways with some tarmac sections, so spikes are not suitable. Limited parking is available and participants are asked not to park in the pub car park. Race rules include a single mass start for all age groups, no children under 12, no dogs or pushchairs, and no headphones unless bone conductive. Marshals and a tail runner will be on course. First aid and a defibrillator are provided, water is available at the finish and results are released the following day. The event is held under UK Athletics rules, TRA Permit No. 7072.
