Pincushion Hill Climb
Pincushion Hill Climb is a chip-timed, one-mile uphill trail race that starts at the San Joaquin River Trailhead in the South Finegold picnic area (Millerton Lake SRA) and finishes at the top of Pincushion Mountain. The venue is located at the end of Sky Harbor Road in Friant, CA.
Prizes are awarded to the top three male and top three female finishers, and age-group winners receive awards. All participants receive a custom finisher award. Shirts are available for an extra fee.
A Mountain Goat edition is offered for participants who want to complete multiple ascents. The first ascent is timed and scored for the regular event; after that, participants have a four-hour window to complete as many trips to the peak as possible. To qualify as a Mountain Goat, a runner must reach the summit at least twice. The first descent after the initial ascent must follow the longer route of just over 1.5 miles; subsequent descents may follow the same route used for ascent. Mountain Goat finishers receive a special finisher award and additional awards for the top male and female.
If the event is canceled because of California State Parks closures or wildfire restrictions, registered participants will be moved to a virtual race and event packets will be mailed; no refunds will be offered. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
