  • Mountain Goat edition

The Mountain Goat edition begins with a timed first ascent that also counts for the regular 1-mile event. After the first run, participants have a four-hour window to complete as many additional trips to Pincushion Peak as they can. The first descent must follow the longer route (just over 1.5 miles); subsequent descents may use the same route as the ascent. A competitor must complete at least two trips to the top to be classified as a Mountain Goat.

There are awards for the top three male and female finishers, age-group winners, and Clydesdale/Athena division winners. All participants receive a custom finisher award and an event shirt. Mountain Goat finishers receive a special finisher award and the top male and female Mountain Goat runners receive additional awards. The race is held at S. Finegold Picnic Area in Friant, CA.
