Perennial: A Time Based Endurance Run

Perennial is a lap-based timed running event on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden / Daniel Stowe Conservancy in Belmont, NC. Participants choose a time category and complete as many laps as possible on a roughly 5K-ish loop that is about 95% trails and crushed gravel. Runners are ranked by total laps completed and then by elapsed time within their chosen category. Time categories available:

  • 3 Hour
  • 6 Hour
  • 10 Hour

Approximate lap targets and corresponding distances noted by the organizer include 4 laps (half marathon-ish), 8 laps (marathon-ish), 12 laps (about 40 miles), and 16 laps (about 50 miles).

Logistics and services

Race headquarters and the aid station sit at the start/finish of each lap. The event is cup free and safety pin free; participants are expected to be largely self-sufficient for food and gear. Basic on-site provisions include water, Tailwind, soda, pretzels, chips, PB&J, and nearby restroom facilities (about 200 ft from Race HQ). Registration is limited to the first 150 entrants (50 per time category). Registered participants receive a custom race bib and a custom shirt (guaranteed for those who register by the shirt deadline).
