Perennial: A Time Based Endurance Run
Perennial is a time-based running event on Saturday, March 7, 2026, held on the grounds of Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden in Belmont, NC. The event offers timed categories and awards escalating distance prizes based on laps completed. The event beneficiary is Daniel Stowe Conservancy. Registration is limited to the first 150 participants (50 per time category).
Format and course
Participants choose a time category and complete as many laps as possible on a repeated loop. The time categories are:
- 10 Hour
- 6 Hour
- 3 Hour
The course is a roughly 5K loop that is about 95% trails and crushed gravel and starts/finishes at Race HQ. Runners are ranked first by total laps completed and then by time. Any distance completed after a participant's chosen time category ends does not count toward standings.
Event amenities and rules include a Race HQ with an aid station at the start/finish, water, Tailwind, soda, basic snacks, a custom souvenir race bib, and a custom shirt for registrants who meet the organizer deadline. The event is cup free and safety-pin free. Participants are expected to be self-sufficient; friends and family may crew at Race HQ but may not pace on course. Bathrooms are nearby but not inside Race HQ. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
