Flint's Fabulous 5K

Flint's Fabulous 5K is scheduled for September 26, 2026 at 150 North Research Campus Drive in Kannapolis, NC. The event donates registration revenue and optional add-on donations to Leashes of Valor, a nonprofit that provides no-cost service dogs to veterans who served after 2001.

Registration is offered with a base option that includes a race shirt and supplies for a dog in training, and a no-shirt option at a lower base fee. Additional donation levels correspond to specific training needs such as food, leashes, bowls, vests, beds, vaccinations, and handler training. The organizer states that all proceeds will go to Leashes of Valor and dog training resources.

For 2026 this third annual 5K is part of the Run Kannapolis Race Series, a set of eight races; registering for the full series qualifies for a stated discount. A guaranteed race shirt is available for participants who register by September 11. Packet pickup procedures note that shirts, bibs, and safety pins will be available the day before or on the day of the event, and finisher bags are distributed at the finish line. T-shirt swaps are available while supplies last and a friend’s bib may be picked up by another participant.

Leashes of Valor describes its training timeline as beginning at about eight weeks and continuing until roughly 1.5 to 2.0 years, during which dogs live with approved foster families and receive veterinary care and training support. The event is dog friendly with a request that dogs be well socialized and that owners consider heat and surface conditions for their animals.
