Race format and rules

The course is a loop of exactly 4.167 miles. Each loop begins exactly one hour after the previous loop. Participants must be in the starting corral at the bell; the corral is sized to fit the entire starting field and does not change size during the event. A warning is given 3, 2, and 1 minutes before each loop start and all participants must start at the bell.

Participants may not leave the course until each loop is completed, except for restroom use. No non-participants are allowed on the course, including eliminated runners. Personal aid during a loop is not allowed; common aid stations are permitted. Artificial aids, including trekking poles, are not allowed. Each loop must be completed within one hour to be counted, including the final lap. The event is open ended. The winner is the last person to complete a loop; others are recorded by distance covered.
