Peak Raid Race 1 Hayfield

Peak Raid Race 1 is the first of a four-event series of three-hour fell races held in the Peak District. Race 1 is set in Hayfield on 20 September 2026. The series includes events at Edale, Eastern Moors South and Alstonefield on later dates.

The event uses a score format with SiTiming. Competitors receive a waterproof map with control descriptions and a points sheet and then have three hours to visit controls and collect as many points as possible. Routes are chosen by the competitor, so route choice and navigation are central to performance. Points are lost for late finishers. The best three results from the series count toward the overall league result.

Entries are accepted for solo runners and pairs, and participants may walk or jog if they prefer. Minimum age is 14. There are 15 competition categories in total covering male and female age bands and mixed pairs. For pairs the age category is determined by the oldest competitor. A Parent or Guardian and Under 18 category requires the junior to be at least 14 and the accompanying adult to be over 21 and the parent or guardian or an appointed adult.

All competitors must carry the FRA Mandatory Minimum Kit, which includes waterproof full body cover (jacket and trousers with taped seams and hood), hat, gloves, provided map, compass, whistle, emergency food and a survival bag. Kit checks are carried out. Dogs are not allowed. Prizes require completion of at least two races to be eligible. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
