Format and rules

The event uses a score format with route choice and navigation required. Competitors are given a waterproof map with control descriptions and point values and have 3 hours to visit as many controls as possible. Points are lost for lateness. Results use the best three results toward the overall league. Entries may be solo or pairs; there are 15 categories in total, including male and female senior and veteran age groups and mixed pairs. For pairs the category is determined by the age of the older competitor. A Parent or Guardian & Under 18 category requires the junior to be at least 14 and the accompanying adult to be over 21 and the parent, guardian or an appointed accompanying adult.

All competitors must carry the FRA Mandatory Minimum Kit: waterproof jacket and trousers with taped seams and attached hood, hat, gloves, map (provided), compass, whistle, emergency food and a survival bag. Kit checks are carried out. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
