Peak District Ultra Challenge - Bakewell basecamp, 4-5 July 2026
The Peak District Ultra Challenge is a weekend series of trail events held from Bakewell basecamp in the Southern Peak District. The event offers multiple looped distances using a figure of eight route around Derbyshire, with camping, parking, transfers, and on-site hospitality.
Distances include:
- 100 km full continuous loop, ~2150 m climb
- 100 km over 2 days (52 km + 48 km), ~1250 m and ~900 m climbs
- ~73 km three quarter challenge, ~1500 m climb
- 52 km northern loop, ~1250 m climb
- 48 km southern loop, ~900 m elevation
- 25 km Bakewell loop, ~600 m elevation
- 10 miles Bakewell loop, ~350 m climb
Support infrastructure includes covered rest stops every ~12.5 km with larger facilities about every ~25 km, marquee cover, catering, seating, changing areas, and medical and welfare tents. Food and drinks are provided at regular intervals, including meals approximately every 25 km and options for different dietary needs. Medical provision includes doctors, paramedics, first aiders, podiatrists, and massage teams, plus mobile emergency support managed from a control room.
The route is fully signed with arrows and night glow-sticks and features GPS tracking via an event app. Event categories include Ultra March for target-paced walkers, Trailblazerz for faster competitive runners, and a Solo Challengers start option.
