Orcas Island 100 Mile
The Orcas Island 100 is a 100 miles trail race on Orcas Island, Washington, scheduled for February 26, 2027. The course is run as four 25 mile loops that travel largely on single-track trail through old-growth forest and island terrain, with an overall elevation gain of about 26,000 ft. Weather can vary from rain to snow to sun.
The race uses multiple aid stations around the looped course. There are 15 staffed aid stations in total and four full aid stations named Mountain, Cascade, Constitution, and Camp Moran where drop bags are allowed. The event enforces a 36 hour cutoff for the course and has intermediate cutoffs at aid stations to keep the race within permit time limits.
Pacers are permitted starting at mile 25; pacers may not carry items for their runner and must follow the event check-in procedures. Crew access is restricted on the first loop and allowed at specified aid stations thereafter. Entrants must meet qualifying criteria from recent organized trail races (a 50 mile or 100K with at least 7,000 ft gain since Jan 1, 2021, or a 100 mile since Jan 1, 2021). Participants must also complete a day of volunteer trail work (6 to 8 hours) within the year before the race or submit proof of a minimum $100 donation to trail work.
Finishers receive a belt buckle and all participants receive a race hoodie. The event starts and finishes at Camp Moran in Moran State Park; ferry reservations are required for travel to the island. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
