Oke Croak

The Oke Croak is a fell running event that takes participants on a tour of the northern moor. The primary route covers more than 10 miles and includes a total elevation gain of over 2,000 feet. The course begins in Okehampton and leads runners to Oke Tor and then to Yes Tor before returning to the start location.

Because the course is difficult to mark accurately, participants are responsible for their own navigation. Runners are permitted to choose their own lines between points, noting that the most direct path may not always be the quickest. The race includes several compulsory checkpoints where runners must provide their race numbers to stewards.

Licensed by the Fell Runners Association, the event requires participants to carry mandatory safety equipment. All runners must have a map of the route, a compass, and a whistle. Depending on weather conditions, participants may also be required to carry a jacket with taped seams. The organizers recommend that runners carry their own food and water.

In addition to the main race, the event features two junior categories:

  • 2 km junior race
  • 4.5 km junior race

Race headquarters is located at the Pavilion in the Park within Simmons Park, Okehampton. Pay and display parking is available nearby at the Simmons Park Car Park. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
