O'Brien Trail Races
O'Brien Trail Races take place at William O'Brien State Park in Marine on Saint Croix, Minnesota. The event offers multiple trail distances and uses park trails, with the start and finish at the Visitor Center inside the park. Parking is at the Visitor Center lot; participants are asked to be considerate of other Center users.
Distances offered:
- 50K - two 25k loops using the upper section, south section, and Jackson Meadows.
- 25K - course details to be determined.
- 10K - consists of two 5k loops on wide grass trails.
- 5K - wide grass trails with one large hill and a flat finish area.
Aid stations and race support vary by distance. The 50K uses four aid stations per loop; the 25K uses four aid stations; the 5K and 10K have no aid stations. Drop bags are allowed at the start/finish area only. Packet pickup is on race morning only. Bathrooms are available inside the Visitor Center at the start/finish area.
Awards and finishes: the 50K and 25K award the top three male and female finishers. 5K and 10K finishers receive a full color 8.5 x 11 print of the current year logo; those shorter races do not have awards or included race shirts. Race shirts are offered as an optional purchase. Entry fees vary by distance and registration date; race day registration is available for an additional fee.
General rules and services: no external music during the race without headphones. Aid station fare and post race food include water, sports drink, cookies, and other items. There are no refunds and entries may not be transferred or deferred. If the event must be changed to virtual, race shirts and race numbers will be mailed within one week of the event completion.
