Bingo Challenge Races

Lake Elmo, United States • 15 Aug 2026

Event Overview

The Bingo Challenge Races is a backyard-style running event held in Lake Elmo. The competition features a unique format where participants complete 2.6-mile loops to earn bingo balls. Each loop must be finished within 28 minutes to allow the runner to draw a ball. New loops begin every 28 minutes as a group start. The objective is to complete a bingo pattern on a chosen card with the fastest total lap time.

Distance Options

Participants can choose between two primary event formats based on their bingo card:

  • 3x3 Bingo Card: Distances range from 7.8 to 13 miles depending on when bingo is achieved (maximum 5 loops).
  • 4x4 Bingo Card: Distances range from 10.4 to 20.8 miles depending on when bingo is achieved (maximum 8 loops).

Course and Logistics

The race takes place on single-track style hiking trails around Sunfish Lake, starting from the parking lot of the Sally Manzara Interpretive Nature Center. The course includes natural terrain such as loose soil, mud, dirt, and hills, making it unsuitable for strollers. Because the trails remain open to the public, runners must be aware of pedestrians. Water and light snacks are provided at the start and finish line, which also serves as the primary spectator viewing area.

Recognition and Results

This is a gun-timed race using timing chips. Awards are presented to the top three overall male and female finishers. Participants who do not complete their bingo by the final allowed lap receive a "Did Not Bingo" (DNB) status, though they still receive recorded times and distances.
