Bingo Challenge Races

This trail-format event takes place at the Sunfish Lake parking area by the Sally Manzara Interpretive Nature Center in Lake Elmo, Minnesota. Runners follow a marked single-track style loop that measures 2.85 miles and is open to other trail users; many offshoots exist and signage is provided where possible.

The format uses repeated laps with a 32 minute window for each lap. If a runner completes a lap within that window they earn a bingo ball to draw; the overall objective is to complete a bingo and record the fastest lap time to end the race. If a runner does not achieve bingo within the allowed number of loops they receive a DNB status but will still receive a time, distance, and competitor recognition.

Distances and card options:

  • 3x3 card - 8.55 to 14.25 miles, up to 5 loops
  • 4x4 card - 11.40 to 22.80 miles, up to 8 loops

Course details note the loop is single-track and shared with the public. Parking is at the trailhead parking lot shared with the nature center. Aid is provided at the start/finish with water, Gatorade, and light snacks; a refill station is available and participants are encouraged to bring a personal water bottle.

Timing uses gun-time with chip timing; bibs must be visible. Packet pickup is planned on race day and includes bibs, timing chips, and any event items. Awards go to the top three overall male and female finishers by gun time. Pets and bicycles are not allowed on the race course and the course is not stroller friendly. The organizers reserve the right to cancel or delay the event for inclement weather; there are no refunds. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
