Ravine Trail Run

The Ravine Trail Run is a trail race held at the Ravine Landing building in Cottage Grove, Minnesota. The course utilizes cross-country ski trails consisting of grass, mud, packed dirt, and rocky sections in washout areas. The 3.2-mile unpaved loop includes various hills, valleys, shaded tree sections, and open prairie areas. Because the trails feature loose soil and terrain changes, the course is not suitable for strollers.

Participants can choose from two primary distances:

  • Ravine Trail 5k: A 3.1 mile race consisting of one loop of the trail.
  • Ravine 10k: A 6.2 mile race consisting of two loops of the trail.

The event uses gun timing with chips, and race bibs must be visible at all times. The trails remain open to the public during the event, and participants share the path with other pedestrians. Due to the width of the trails and the nature of the terrain, pets and bicycles are not permitted on the course.

Large parking facilities are available at the park near the Ravine Landing building. For hydration, a water refill station and light snacks are provided at the start line. Organizers suggest that participants bring their own water bottles to reduce waste. A post-race celebration with music and snacks takes place near the finish line, and awards are presented to the top three overall male and female finishers.
