North Yorks Ultra Challenge
The event is based at Scarborough basecamp and runs along the North Yorkshire coast and moors. Routes follow the Cleveland Way north through Robin Hood Bay to Whitby, with the 50 km point at Whitby Showground. Full 100 km routes continue inland via the Esk Valley, through Moors Park Forest and onto the Tabular Hills Walk before returning to Scarborough.
Support infrastructure includes covered rest stops every ~12.5 km with larger stops at about 25 km, 50 km, 75 km and 100 km. Rest stops provide food and drink, seating, toilets, medical and changing facilities, baggage pickup, and a self-help area with blister care. Regular snack stops are provided every 12.5 km, a meal or food every 25 km, and hot drinks, water and energy drinks at all stops. The event states it caters for dietary requirements and offers lighter options for runners.
The route is fully signed with pink arrows and glow-sticks at night. A timing system scans participants at rest stops and an event app offers GPS tracking and route maps. Camping packages are available at Scarborough and optional camping at Whitby for the two-day option. Medical teams, podiatrists and massage therapists are present at rest stops. Finish-line items include a medal, finisher T-shirt, a glass of fizz, a photo finish and a finishers meal.
