North Yorks Ultra Challenge

The event is based at Scarborough basecamp and offers multi day and single day trail challenge options around the North Yorkshire coast and moors. Routes run around town and beaches, along the Cleveland Way, through Robin Hood Bay to Whitby, and inland via the Esk Valley into moorland before returning on the Tabular Hills Walk.

Distances offered include:

  • 100 km full route via coast then inland moorland
  • 50 km half route with Whitby as a mid point
  • 25 km shorter trail option
  • Whitby 10 mile coastal route

Support infrastructure includes covered rest stops roughly every 12.5 km with larger stops at about 25 km, 50 km, 75 km and 100 km. All stops provide food and drink with meal stops about every 25 km, hot drinks and energy drinks at all stops, and facilities such as toilets, medical areas, changing rooms and baggage pick up. Medical, podiatry and massage support are available at rest stops and along the route. A timing system scans progress at rest stops and an event app provides GPS tracking, maps and training information. Camping packages at the basecamp include showers and chill areas for those taking the full two day route. Shuttle buses and parking are provided at the venue. A flat 10 km beach race along Filey Beach with registration based at Filey Sailing Club. Organised by Filey Lions, the course features a 5 km turnaround, on-course water, and a medal and gift for every finisher.

An all night trail run across the North York Moors starting and finishing at Goathland Village Hall. Entrants receive a tracker, a GPX route and checkpoint support with food and drinks, and all finishers receive a Lamplighter medal.

A night trail run of about 20 miles from Goathland Village Hall across the North York Moors, held from sunset to sunrise with trackers, checkpoints and on-course refreshments. Entrants have 6.5 hours to complete the circular route.

Take on a scenic 12 km course across the North York Moors with 400 m of climb for a rewarding midweek challenge. Entry on the day, friendly teams welcome and a post race BBQ helps raise money for charity.
