North Yorks Ultra Challenge
The event is based at Scarborough basecamp and offers multi day and single day trail challenge options around the North Yorkshire coast and moors. Routes run around town and beaches, along the Cleveland Way, through Robin Hood Bay to Whitby, and inland via the Esk Valley into moorland before returning on the Tabular Hills Walk.
Distances offered include:
- 100 km full route via coast then inland moorland
- 50 km half route with Whitby as a mid point
- 25 km shorter trail option
- Whitby 10 mile coastal route
Support infrastructure includes covered rest stops roughly every 12.5 km with larger stops at about 25 km, 50 km, 75 km and 100 km. All stops provide food and drink with meal stops about every 25 km, hot drinks and energy drinks at all stops, and facilities such as toilets, medical areas, changing rooms and baggage pick up. Medical, podiatry and massage support are available at rest stops and along the route. A timing system scans progress at rest stops and an event app provides GPS tracking, maps and training information. Camping packages at the basecamp include showers and chill areas for those taking the full two day route. Shuttle buses and parking are provided at the venue.
