North Fork 50
The North Fork 50 takes place Saturday, May 22, 2027 in Buffalo Creek, Colorado. It offers two trail distances:
- 50 Mile - 50 miles; 6,425 ft total climb; max elevation 8,535 ft; 14 hour limit
- 50K - 31.1 miles; 3,670 ft total climb; max elevation 8,150 ft; 13 hour limit
The course is 100% soft surface, composed almost entirely of singletrack with a few short double-track sections. The route passes through ponderosa pine forest, areas burned in the 1996 Buffalo Creek fire, and around granite rock formations.
Multiple aid stations provide hydration and food; some stations include restrooms and allow drop bags. Crew vehicle access is permitted only at the Buffalo aid station; crews must park inside Meadows Group Campground and walk to the aid station, and parking along roads is prohibited by the US Forest Service. Pacers are not allowed, though friends and family may run the final mile along Buffalo Creek Road.
Course markings use orange and black polka-dot ribbons and orange pin flags; blue and white checkered ribbons indicate the wrong way. All finishers receive a commemorative award, and special awards are given to the top three male and female finishers in each distance. A portion of race proceeds benefits the North Fork Volunteer Fire Department; the 50K also lists ProjectPurple.org and Conifer's StageDoor Theatre as beneficiaries.
Bib pickup occurs Friday at Fleet Feet Littleton and Saturday at the Buffalo Creek Clubhouse. Live split tracking is available during race weekend. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
