NoMad Ultra

The NoMad Ultra is a multi-terrain running event set in the countryside of Derbyshire. The course follows a circular route starting and finishing in Breaston, near junction 25 of the M1. Participants navigate scenic rolling terrain that includes canals, trails, fields, and road sections. The event utilizes the Derby NoMad waymarked trail and other local paths.

The event offers three distinct distance options for participants over the age of 20:

  • 50 mile circular route with 605 meters of total climb.
  • 50 km route (32 miles) following the main trail through the center of Derby.
  • Team Relay Challenge for teams of six people covering the 50 mile course.

The 50 mile distance has a 13-hour time limit, while the 50 km event has a 10-hour limit. For the relay, legs range in length from 5.25 miles to 11 miles. Runners are required to have intermediate navigation skills. While parts of the course are marked in difficult areas, participants are provided with written instructions, maps, and GPX files to assist with the route.

Support is provided throughout the course with five checkpoints for the 50 mile event and three for the 50 km event, offering food and refreshments. A drop bag facility is available for 50 mile entrants. The event uses GPS timing devices to provide live tracking and results. Facilities at the event center include toilets, showers, and changing rooms. All finishers receive a medal and a technical T-shirt. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
