NoMad Ultra (20 June 2026)

The NoMad Ultra offers three participation options on a multi-terrain circular course around Derbyshire. Distances and formats available include:

  • 50 mile solo on the full circular NoMad route.
  • 50 km solo following the start and finish sections with a central Derby section.
  • Six person team relay on the same course with legs from 11 miles to 5.25 miles.

All entrants must be over 20 years old and the event is not a walking event. Entry across the three options is limited to 160 teams and participants on the course. The organisers require intermediate navigation skills; the route is partially waymarked in tricky areas and route instructions, maps, and a downloadable GPX file are provided.

Support is provided on course with refreshments and food at checkpoints, plus a drop bag facility for 50 mile entrants. The 50 mile course includes approximately 605 m of climb and uses canal paths, trails, fields and some road, and starts and finishes in Breaston near M1 Junction 25. The 50 km route uses the same start and finish sections and runs through central Derby along the old Derby canal and River Derwent.

Timing uses GPS devices for results and live tracking. Cutoff times are enforced for the 50 mile and 50 km events. All finishers receive a medal and a technical T-shirt. Trophy prizes are awarded for top overall and category finishers and for the winning relay team. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
