NK50k

The NK50k is an annual-ish trail running event held at Greenbush Group Camp, Greenbush, WI. It is a point to point tour along the Northern Kettle Moraine Ice Age Trail and offers two marked distances.

The event includes these distances:

  • 50K point to point on the Ice Age Trail
  • 25K point to point on the Ice Age Trail

Transportation is provided from the finish area to the respective start locations. Aid and access to drop bags for 50K participants are provided at the finish area and at Mile 3.5 and Mile 25. Water is also available at additional locations near backcountry shelters. Aid stations typically supply water, sports drink, Coke, Mt. Dew and assorted usual ultra aid station foods.

Trail surfaces vary from smooth rolling ski trails to rocky and rooty sections of the Ice Age Trail, and the course reaches the highest point in the Northern Kettle Moraine State Forest. After the run, food and refreshments are available at the Group Camp Shelter.

Organizers describe the event as a run rather than a race and state that no official results will be posted. They note that aid will be provided as scheduled when possible and recommend that participants prepare for a degree of self sufficiency.
