Twisted Roots - Sherwood, WI
Twisted Roots is a trail running event organized by TYDISH Running at High Cliff State Park in Sherwood, WI on September 20, 2026. The event offers both a full marathon and a half marathon over natural trail terrain with views of Lake Winnebago, prairie sections, and the Niagara Escarpment, including the historical Lime Kiln Ruins.
The course includes technical singletrack and wider rolling prairie sections. Some trail segments are shared with mountain bikers and horse riders, and participants should follow standard trail etiquette. The event uses the Gathering Space in the upper lot as its main base; parking is ample but the park is not reserved exclusively for the event.
Aid support includes a main aid station at the Gathering Space and at least one additional station along the route, with the secondary location to be announced pending final DNR approval. Fluids provided include water, soda, and an electrolyte beverage. The event is cupless; participants must provide their own hydration carriers or reusable cups. A postrace pasta buffet will be available after each race.
Cutoff times are 8 hours for the full marathon and 5 hours for the half marathon. Registration includes an option to donate to the Friends of High Cliff State Park and a portion of event profits will support that group. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
