Twisted Roots takes place Sunday, September 28, 2025, at High Cliff State Park near Sherwood, Wisconsin (N7630 State Park Road). The event offers trail running races on park terrain.

The courses include technical single-track sections, wide rolling prairie areas, and views of Lake Winnebago. Runners pass the cliffs of the Niagara Escarpment and the historical Lime Kiln Ruins. Some trail sections are shared with mountain bikers and horse riders, so participants must yield and follow proper trail etiquette. Cutoff times are 7 and 48 minutes for the Full and 3 hours and 54 minutes for the Half Marathon. This is an 18 minute mile per pace.
Logistics and rules
Event base is at the Gathering Space in the upper parking lot. There is ample parking, but the event does not have exclusive use of the park. The main aid station is at the Gathering Space and another aid station will be placed along the route; its location is to be announced pending final approval. Aid offerings include running snacks, water, soda, and an electrolyte beverage. The event is cupless; participants must provide their own hydration carriers or reusable cups for refilling. A pasta buffet is offered after each race.
The organizer notes that no alcohol will be served, no disposable single-use cups will be provided, and no cowbells are allowed by crew, staff, or spectators.
