Nightmare Before Xmas Trail ½ Marathon

The event is a trail half marathon held on 19 December 2026 at Bridgend Miniature Railway Centre, Fountain Road, Aberkenfig, Tondu, Bridgend. Entrants must be at least 17 years old. Entry options listed include standard entry and entry with a T-shirt priced at £30 and £60 respectively.

The course begins with a section of the Hateful Eight eight mile route on mixed terrain including a steep hill, a road section with notable views, and a downhill forestry trail that can be technical in wet conditions. After that section runners continue for about five additional miles featuring mud, water and a notable climb referred to as the Hill of Doom, before a final flat muddy mile to the finish. The course will be fully marked.

The field is limited to 70 runners. There is a prize for the most imaginative Christmas fancy dress costume, with the note that costumes must be runnable.

Included for participants are parking, toilet facilities, a bespoke medal, hot and cold drinks and snacks including mince pies and Christmas cake, on-course medical support, and volunteer assistance. A 50 mile event on 1 August 2026 following the Cambrian Way and Heart of Wales Line with 7,100 ft of ascent, four stocked checkpoints and no formal time limits. Route files are provided via Plotaroute.

Discover the Rose Run with Phoenix Running South Wales at Parc Taf Bargoed, a scenic multi terrain out and back with a repeatable 5.3 km lap to build distances from 5 km to ultra. Rock up and run with staggered starts and limited spots.

Trail event in Talybont on Usk offering 24K and 51K routes with marked trails, stocked aid stations, GPX files and chip timed results.

A pancake-flat *10 km* out and back along the Brecon and Monmouthshire canal between Gilwern and Llangattock, set in the Brecon Beacons National Park. Finishers receive a medal, there is a drink station at 5 km, and entries are online only.
