The Nightmare Before Xmas Trail ½ Marathon takes place on Saturday, December 19, 2026. The event is organized by Mad Running Junkies and is held at the Bridgend Miniature Railway Centre in Aberkenfig. There is an entry limit of 70 participants, and the minimum age to enter is 17.

Route Description

The trail half marathon route is described in two parts. The first section is based on the "Hateful Eight" route and features mixed terrain. This part includes a "killer hill," a road section with views, and a downhill forestry trail section that can be technical. The second part involves an additional 5 and a bit miles, which includes mud, water, and a final challenging hill. The course finishes with a flat, muddy mile and is fully marked. The event starts at 8:30 am.

What's Included

Entry includes parking, toilet facilities, a bespoke finisher's medal, hot and cold drinks, and snacks such as mince pies and Christmas cake. There is a medical team and volunteers on site. A prize is awarded for the best and most imaginative Christmas fancy dress costume.
