The Nightmare Before Xmas Trail ½ Marathon is a trail running event held in Bridgend, South Wales. The race is hosted at the Bridgend Miniature Railway Centre and follows a course through mixed terrain including road sections, forestry trails, and off-road paths. Course Details

The half marathon distance consists of two distinct segments. The first part of the route covers approximately 8 miles and incorporates features from the Hateful Eight route. This section includes a significant hill climb, a road portion with scenic views, and a technical downhill section through the trees.

The second part of the course covers over 5 miles and is characterized by mud, water crossings, and an additional incline referred to as the Hill of Doom. The final mile of the race returns to flat, muddy terrain leading to the finish line. The entire route is fully marked for navigation.

Facilities and Features

Participants have access to on-site car parking and toilet facilities at the event venue. The race includes professional medical support and is supported by volunteers. After completing the course, finishers receive a bespoke medal and have access to refreshments, including hot and cold drinks, mince pies, Christmas cake, and crackers.

The event includes a competitive element for participants wearing fancy dress, with a prize awarded for the best Christmas costume.
