Night Owl Trail Races - Summer Night
The Night Owl Trail event takes place at Caesar Creek State Park near Waynesville, OH and offers three distances on mostly single track trails around Caesar Creek Lake. The course uses a combination of the yellow perimeter loop and the red and green trails near Wellman Meadow. Trails are heavily wooded, with rolling hills and some back-to-back rollers; surface conditions can be dry, muddy, snowy, or icy depending on weather.
Distances offered:
- Marathon
- Half marathon
- 10K
There are four aid stations on course: Wellman Meadow (10K turnaround; staffed early and later unmanned), Fifty Springs (fully stocked), Day Lodge (water and limited nutrition), and Start/Finish (fully stocked with warm and vegan options). This is a cupless race; runners must carry a collapsible cup for aid station drinks.
Mandatory gear includes a headlamp with spare batteries, a water bottle or bladder, a collapsible cup, and a fully charged cell phone. A mylar blanket and insulated jacket are recommended; additional winter gear is suggested when cold or heavy rain is predicted. Packet pickup is at the start/finish shelter before the event; allow extra time for parking.
The race is Trail Sisters approved and includes equal podium spots, equal prize awards, women’s specific swag, menstrual products at aid stations, and Athletes With Disability divisions. There are no refunds; a deferral scale applies. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
