Night Owl Trail Marathon, Half, and 10K : Summer Night Owl
This night trail event takes place June 13, 2026 at Caesar Creek State Park near Waynesville, OH (4020 N Clarksville Rd). Distances offered include:
- Marathon
- Half marathon
- 10K
The course follows mostly single track trails around Caesar Creek Lake, combining the park perimeter loop with nearby red and green trails near Wellman Meadow. Trails feature rolling hills and back-to-back rollers in parts of the marathon and half loops. Surface conditions are weather dependent and can range from runnable dry trail to muddy or snowy terrain. Some short sections use the road shoulder on North Clarksville and Route 73; runners must stay in the shoulder and avoid running more than two abreast. One crossing requires climbing over a short railing to return to the trail.
Aid stations on course include Wellman Meadow (10K turnaround, water and Tailwind, then unmanned), Fifty Springs (fully stocked), Day Lodge (water and limited nutrition), and Start/Finish (fully stocked with warm food and vegan options). This is a cupless race; participants must carry a collapsible cup for aid station drinks.
Mandatory gear includes a headlamp with spare batteries, water bottle or bladder, collapsible cup, and a fully charged cell phone. Organizers list additional recommended cold weather items for winter conditions. Finishers receive glow in the dark owl medals and registered runners receive event swag; swag guarantee requires registration by May 1. Registration closes June 7. No refunds; a tiered deferral policy is published. Volunteers can earn credit toward future events. The event is Trail Sisters approved and the organizer identifies as women owned and immigrant owned. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
