New Hope Turkey Trot
Smithville, United States • 26 Nov 2026
Event Overview
The New Hope Turkey Trot is a running event organized by New Hope Christian School in Smithville, Missouri, as a fundraiser to support Christian education. All proceeds go to the New Hope Scholarship Fund.
The event takes place at the Smith's Fork recreation area. Ample parking is available near the soccer and baseball fields, with overflow parking at Grace Community Church across MO Hwy DD.
Event Format
The event includes two self-timed trail races:
- New Hope Turkey Trot 5k Trail Run/Walk
- New Hope Turkey Trot 1.25 Mile Fun Run/Walk
Both events start together. All participants begin on the former Julia Bargman Memorial Cross Country course, winding along a tree line.
Course Details
The full 5k course continues through a seasonal campground on an asphalt road, across a spillway, and onto gravel and dirt trails around the Lake Remote area. This section features tree roots, rocks, and uneven terrain. Runners may spot wildlife like deer and bald eagles. The course includes a significant hill followed by a technical descent with rocks and roots. The final section runs along the grassy bank of the Little Platte River before returning to the finish line via a gravel path.
The shorter 1.25-mile fun run is family-friendly and features several 'Nature Knowledge' stations along the route.
