NCS Take the Hill 5K & Kids Fun Run

The event on October 4, 2026, at North Cross School in Roanoke, Virginia is an annual fundraising event for the North Cross School Parents' Association. The course begins and ends on the red barn field on the North Cross School campus at 4254 Colonial Ave and follows the North Cross School Cross Country Ridgeline Trail.

Distances include:

  • 0.8 mile Kids Fun Run
  • 5K competitive cross country run chip timed by Run Roanoke
  • 5K Walkers Only non timed event

The Kids Fun Run is an untimed 0.8 mile event. All finishers receive a participation medal and the first three finishers will be recognized. NCS cross country runners will lead the kids and provide support from the back of the field. Parents may run or walk with children.

The 5K Run is a competitive cross country race on the NCS Ridgeline Course and uses chip timing. Medals are presented to the overall top three male and female finishers, to the first male and female masters (age 40 and older), and to the top three finishers in each listed age group for both males and females. Age groups are: 9 and under; 10-12; 13-15; 16-19; 20-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60-69; 70 and over.

Registration opens April 1, 2026 and closes May 29, 2026. Registration fees are $25 for the 5K Run, $20 for the Walkers 5K, and $15 for the Kids Fun Run. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
