Into the Darkness Night Trail Run

Into the Darkness is scheduled for October 24, 2026, at Explore Park. This edition uses a new alignment of the park trails and covers principally trail terrain with a short paved approach.

The course follows approximately 0.25 miles of asphalt from the headquarters to the trailhead, then runs about 3.6 miles on twisty, rolling single track. The route uses the Mountain Bike Nationals XCO route run in reverse. Trails are marked with reflective arrows, glow sticks, and occasional family‑friendly trail decor to help runners follow the course.

A light source is mandatory. Organizers recommend carrying a headlamp and a handheld flashlight to improve depth perception and to see roots and rocks; light sources will not be provided. Participants are advised to test their chosen lights under similar conditions before the event.

Packet pickup is scheduled at Gilbert Chiropractic on October 22 and at Explore Park on October 24. Registration fees are listed as $35 on or before September 29, $40 after September 30, and $45 from October 22 until the event.

Age divisions range from 9 & under through 70 & over. The top three overall male and female finishers will receive distinctive awards, and the top three finishers in each age group will receive medals.

Event rules note that race numbers must be visible, runners must follow marked trail and be courteous when passing, headphones are allowed at low volume, dogs are not permitted, and competitors who withdraw should notify race staff or a volunteer.
