The NAV4 Tour de Helvellyn is a winter ultra run. The 2026 edition will be its 17th year. The event is traditionally held on the shortest Saturday in December.

Route Details

The course is a 38-mile circuit around Helvellyn, starting and finishing at Askham Community Centre on the edge of the Lake District. It involves approximately 2000m of ascent and descent over mountain trails and bridleways, reaching a height of nearly 600m. The route is unmarked and follows footpaths, bridleways, or minor lanes. No route description is issued; participants must navigate themselves.

Participant Requirements

This is a demanding winter mountain run requiring good navigational skills, experience, and self-reliance. It is described as "not an event for novice trail runners." Entrants must be suitably experienced and equipped to look after themselves in challenging terrain and conditions. Support teams, pacers, or crews are not allowed, and spectators are not permitted at checkpoints. The event is low-key with minimal support. A specific and mandatory kit list will be checked at the start.

Practical Information

Entry is limited to 200 starters. Registration is available on Friday evening and Saturday morning at Askham Community Centre. Participants may start at any time between 7:00 am and 9:30 am, but must not arrive at the Side Farm checkpoint before 9:30 am. This self guided trail race explores 7 miles of Derbyshire's Moss Valley. Runners navigate using written instructions on a scenic route through woodlands and farmland. The event starts from the Green Lawns Community Centre.

A 4.66-mile trail run on an undulating mixed-terrain course through Derbyshire countryside. The marked route finishes on a runnable hill with medals for all, plus post-race refreshments and a charity raffle.

A community-led off road trail run at North Leverton Windmill on 1 March 2026, roughly 10 kilometres over undulating, muddy and firmer lanes. Organised by volunteers as a not-for-profit event; finishers get local flour, a medal and honey.

A seven hour timed event on the flat canal towpath at Burton Waters near Lincoln, offering half, marathon and ultra options on a measured course. Limited to 50 entrants with transfers allowed given seven days notice.
