Longshaw Sheepdog Trials Fell Race (5 September 2026)
The Longshaw Sheepdog Trials Fell Race takes place on the Longshaw estate on 5 September 2026. The course distance is 7.1 km (4.4 miles) with 237 m (777 ft) of climb (BS). The event runs in association with the Longshaw Sheepdog Trials, which are billed as Britain’s oldest sheepdog trials.
Entry to the race includes free entry to the sheepdog trials and access to on-site facilities such as a beer tent, hot food, and grandstand seating for the dog trials. A spitfire flyover has occurred at the trials on some occasions.
A "new" route will be used in 2026 that stays on the Longshaw estate. Earlier route changes were made to avoid clashes with other events and to reduce road crossings; those revised routes tour parts of the Longshaw Estate and the Grindleford Valley, and were described as very slightly shorter with a little less climb but including some tricky descents and steep ascents.
The race is permitted and run under the rules of the Fell Runners Association. Organisers acknowledge the National Trust for helping to arrange access to the estate with conservation in mind. Past results are available for recent years including 2022 through 2025. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
