Longshaw Sheepdog Trials Fell Race : 5 September 2026

The Longshaw Sheepdog Trials Fell Race takes place on Saturday 5 September 2026 at Longshaw Lodge, on the Sheffield-Hathersage road in the Peak District, England. The course distance is 7.1 km (4.4 miles) with about 237 m (approximately 777 ft) of climb. The event is part of the Longshaw Sheepdog Trials and is run under the rules of the Fell Runners Association with a permit and associated UK Athletics insurance.

Route and event format

The 2026 race uses the "new" route that stays on the Longshaw estate. The route tours parts of the Longshaw Estate and Grindleford Valley, with fewer road crossings than earlier routes. It is slightly shorter with a little less total climb than previous routes, and includes some steep ascents and tricky descents. OS Maps and GPX files are available for the route.

Entry and other details

Pre-entry is required; entries open 1 May and race numbers are capped at around 200. Entry on the day is not permitted. The pre-entry fee is listed as £10. Minimum entry age is 16. Teams are not permitted and there are no junior races. Entry to the fell race includes free admission to the sheepdog trials, though non-runners pay separately for trials entry.
