Muddy Paws Trail Race
The Muddy Paws event takes place in the Kendall Lake area of the Cuyahoga Valley National Park, starting from Pine Hollow. This trail race is part of the Dirty Trail Series and offers three distinct distances for participants to choose from:
- 5k
- 5 Mile
- 10 Mile
The course features a variety of terrain, beginning on grass and crossing a wildflower meadow before entering wooded sections. Participants navigate hills and trails through oak, hickory, and beech woodlands. Some portions of the route follow paths covered in pine needles from trees planted in the 1930s. The 5 Mile distance consists of a single loop of the course, while the 10 Mile distance requires two loops. Both runners and hikers are permitted to participate in these events.
The event serves as a fundraiser for the Humane Society of Summit County. An adoption vehicle is present on-site during the race for participants to meet animals available for adoption.
Awards are presented to the top three overall male and female finishers in each event. Additionally, age group awards are provided to the top three male and female finishers in five-year increments, ranging from age 14 and under to 70 and over. Participants receive a finisher medal and a choice of swag items, such as a shirt, crossbody bag, water bottle, or ice bandana. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
