Muddy Paws 5k, 5 Mile & 10 Mile
Muddy Paws is a trail race in the Kendall Lake area of Cuyahoga Valley National Park with three distance options. The 2026 program adds a new 5k; the 5 mile course is one loop and the 10 mile course is two loops. Hikers are welcome and the event is part of the Dirty Trail Series.
The course starts on grass, crosses a wildflower meadow, and continues into wooded terrain featuring oak, hickory, and beech. Runners and hikers follow trails under stands of white and red pine planted by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s. Kendall Lake and Sound of Music Hill are notable landmarks near the route and the finish area.
Donations and proceeds benefit the Humane Society of Summit County. The Humane Society brings an adoption vehicle to Pine Hollow on race day so participants can meet adoptable animals. Swag for finishers includes a medal plus one option from a triblend tee, crossbody bag, CVNP water bottle, or ice bandana.
Awards are given to the top three overall male and female finishers and to the top three male and female finishers in 5-year age groups: 14 and under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, and 70 and over.
