Akron Trail Marathon
The Akron Trail Marathon is a running event scheduled for Saturday, July 11, 2026. The start point is at the Memorial Parkway trailhead in Akron, Ohio.
The course begins with a short out-and-back section into the city. It then follows the locks out of downtown and runs north on the Towpath Trail. Runners eventually leave the Towpath for the rugged trails of the Summit Metro Parks, winding past the Cuyahoga River.
Three distances are offered:
- Marathon
- Half Marathon
- 10K
Each route features a different mix of surfaces and terrain. The 10K includes roughly 4 miles of crushed limestone trail and 2 miles of rugged hills. The Half Marathon combines crushed limestone trail, rugged hills, and a hilly road section. The Marathon includes all these elements and has over 2,000 feet of elevation gain.
The event will have aid stations with water and sports drink. There will be approximately 6–8 stops for the marathon, 3–4 for the half marathon, and 1 for the 10K. Snacks are planned for the half and full marathon at the Oxbow aid station. Organizers advise runners to carry a handheld water bottle due to likely hot and humid July conditions.
Awards are given to the first and second overall male and female finishers in each distance, as well as to masters winners. All finishers receive a medal. Registration includes a medal and t-shirt. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
