The MTC Blue Caps is a single-day ultra event held on 13 July 2029. It is part of the Mount to Coast End to End Challenge Series and forms Day 4 of the MTC ALBION thirteen-day end-to-end of England. The route total is given as 35.5 miles and this is the first edition of the Blue Caps. Entry is limited to 20 competitors with an additional allowance of 20 ALBION competitors, for a maximum of 40 entries. Entry fees are stated as £90 for the standard ultra and £155 for a plus package that includes an embroidered race shirt and a lightweight hi-viz race jacket; the plus package needs to be purchased at least four weeks before the event to guarantee clothing supply. All finishers receive a Blue Caps medal; male and female champions also receive bespoke trophies. All entries and payments are non-refundable. A personal cancellation insurance option is offered at checkout.

Route, cutoffs and requirements

The route runs from Premier Inn Wigan North to The Swan at Tarporley and follows the same path used by the MTC JOGLE event but with reduced daily distances. Key check points are: Garswood (8 miles), Mill Lane, Warrington (15.4 miles) and Little Leigh (24.4 miles), with the finish at Tarporley (35.5 miles). Organisers enforce a minimum average speed of 4.0 mph; competitors falling below this requirement may be withdrawn. The event is cup-free. Mandatory kit includes a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, provided route maps, compass or GPS device, whistle, mobile phone, basic first-aid (including two chocolate bars) and a waterproof map case.
