The Mt Bogong Conquestathon is a single-day hike-or-run event scheduled for Saturday 28 February 2026 around Mount Bogong, Victoria’s highest mountain (1,986 m). The full route is 21 km with 1,410 m of elevation gain. Distances along the route include:

  • 21 km total loop
  • 9 km ascent via Staircase Spur
  • 12 km descent via Eskdale Spur and Camp Creek Gap

Course, categories and entry details

The course starts and finishes at Mountain Creek Campground and follows Staircase Spur to the summit, then descends Eskdale Spur to Camp Creek Gap and returns on a 4WD track. All entrants must pass clocked checkpoints at the summit and at Camp Creek; failing to meet the event cutoffs will require returning to Mountain Creek Campground or leaving the course by vehicle. Mandatory gear is required to start. Entries are capped at 300, there are no on-the-day entries, and registrations close Friday 27 February. The event offers competitive and non-competitive categories and team awards for largest and fastest teams. Organisers are volunteers and marshals include members of the Birkebeiner Nordic Ski Club Search and Rescue. Funds raised support the Birkebeiner Nordic Ski Club Search and Rescue.
