Mt Bogong Conquestathon

Tawonga, Australia • 28 Feb 2026

Event overview

The Mt Bogong Conquestathon is a single-day hike or run held on Saturday 28 February 2026. The course is a round trip of 21 km with a total ascent of 1,410 m, concentrated in the first 9 km up Staircase Spur to the summit of Victoria’s highest mountain at 1,986 m. The return route descends Eskdale Spur to Camp Creek Gap and follows a 4WD track for the final 8 km back to Mountain Creek Camp Ground. Entries are capped at 350 participants and there are competitive and non-competitive categories. The event raises funds for local community groups, including the Birkebeiner Nordic Ski Club Search and Rescue, whose volunteers marshal the course.

Course, entry and requirements

Organisers recommend prior training that includes a similar 20 km hike with about 1,300 m elevation gain to prepare for nutrition and hydration needs. Mandatory gear is required to start and there is a registration and bib collection process with a pre-event option. U18 participants must have a parent or guardian in attendance and contactable for the whole event; that adult can be on the course or waiting at Mountain Creek Camp Ground. Team prizes include a largest-team award and a fastest-team award based on the first three finishers. No entries are available on the day. Fees are published for child, adult and family entries.
