Mt Bogong Conquestathon
The Mt Bogong Conquestathon is a single day trek and running event that covers a total distance of 21 km with 1,410 metres of elevation gain. Most of the ascent occurs over the first 9 km up Staircase Spur to the summit of Mount Bogong. The route descends via Eskdale Spur to Camp Creek Gap and follows a 4WD track for the final 8 km back to Mountain Creek Campground.
Participants are advised to have completed a similar grade hike of at least 20 km with about 1,300 metres of elevation gain as preparation. The event requires mandatory gear; entrants cannot start without the required equipment and there is a mandatory gear check at registration. There are clocked checkpoints at the summit and at Camp Creek Gap; failure to reach these checkpoints requires return to Mountain Creek Campground or movement off course as directed by event officials.
Categories include competitive and non competitive entries, and teams can register for team awards such as Largest Team and ALTRA Fastest Team. Entries are capped at 350 participants and there are no entries on the day. The event has previously supported local community groups and volunteers, including a search and rescue volunteer crew that marshals the course. The Conquestathon marked its 46th staging in 2026.
