4 Peaks Bright Alpine Climb - Mt Hotham

Harrietville, Australia • 2 Nov 2026

Mt Hotham - Day 3 (Bright Alpine Climb 4 Peaks)

Date: Monday 2 November 2026. The event starts in Harrietville (Tabare/Tavare Park) and finishes at Diamantina Hut. The course distance is 15.0 km with an elevation gain of 1867 m.

Course, support and logistics

The route leaves Harrietville, crosses the Ovens River and follows Bon Accord Track along the river for about 6 km. The trail then climbs steeply up Bon Accord Spur to the Bon Accord Hut ruins, continues past the treeline onto The Razorback, and finishes with an undulating kilometre to Diamantina Hut. There is no aid on the course; participants must be self-sufficient for the time on trail. At Diamantina Hut water and fruit will be available to help with the return. A shuttle bus from the finish back to Harrietville is included in entry fees; expect a minimum 90 minute round trip. Drivers should allow extra time because of roadworks on the Alpine Highway between Harrietville and the finish. For parking near Diamantina Hut, drivers are asked to pass the finish, turn at the Mt Lock Carpark, then park on the south side of the road and follow parking signs.

Requirements and other information

Mandatory alpine gear is required because conditions can change quickly and vary between valley and summit. A course map and GPX file are provided by the organiser. Walkers are advised to plan for about five hours to reach the summit, which implies a pace near 25–30 minutes per kilometre. Volunteers are requested for sweeping, de-marking, general marshalling and registration/check-in. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
