4 Peaks Bright Alpine Climb - Mt Hotham

Harrietville, Australia • 2 Nov 2026

Mt Hotham - Day 3

This event is a mountain trail outing starting at Tabare Park in Harrietville and finishing at Diamantina Hut. The course covers 15.0 km with 1867 m of vertical climb. Participants cross the Ovens River and follow Bon Accord Track for about 6 km before a steep ascent up Bon Accord Spur to the Bon Accord Hut ruins. The route continues with another steep climb to the treeline, proceeds along The Razorback, and finishes with an undulating final kilometre to Diamantina Hut.

There is no aid on course; participants should plan to be self sufficient for the duration. At Diamantina Hut water and fruit will be available to support a return trip. A shuttle bus from the finish back to Harrietville is included in the entry fee; the round trip takes a minimum of 90 minutes. Drivers meeting participants at the finish are asked to continue past the Diamantina Hut site, turn around at Mt Lock Carpark, and park on the south side of the road. Roadworks on sections of the Alpine Highway between Harrietville and the Mt Hotham finish may extend travel time.

Mandatory alpine gear is required because weather can change quickly; an updated list of required equipment is provided by the organisers. Volunteer roles listed for the day include sweepers, de-marking crew, general marshals, and registration helpers. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
