Harrietville, Australia • 3 Nov 2025
Event overview
Mt Hotham - Day 3 is part of the Bright Alpine Climb 4 Peaks on Monday 3 November 2025. The route starts in Harrietville and finishes at Diamantina Hut. The course distance is 15.0 km with 1867 m of vertical climb. The start order will be runners first, followed by walkers.
Course and logistics
The course crosses the Ovens River then follows Bon Accord Track for about 6 km beside the river. It then climbs steeply up Bon Accord Spur past the Bon Accord Hut ruins, continues to the treeline, follows The Razorback and finishes with an undulating kilometre to Diamantina Hut. There is no on-course aid; participants should be self-sufficient for the expected duration. Walkers are given about five hours as an expected maximum duration and a suggested minimum pace of roughly 25–30 minutes per km.
Toilets are available (public toilet across the footbridge and portaloos). A coffee van will be located outside Mountain View Retreat near the footbridge. At the finish there will be water and fruit and shuttle buses back to the start are included in the entry fee; the shuttle is a minimum 90 minute round trip. Drivers should allow extra travel time because of roadworks on the Alpine Highway and follow parking signs near the Diamantina Hut site. Volunteers are requested for sweeping, de-marking, marshalling and registration roles. Mandatory alpine gear is required; conditions can change quickly and differ between the valley and the summit.
