Mt Buffalo - Day 1 | Bright Alpine Climb

The Mt Buffalo Day 1 event on Saturday 31 October 2026 is an uphill mountain run of 10.5km with a total vertical climb of 1345m. The course starts at the Eurobin Creek Picnic Area on Mt Buffalo Road and follows The Big Walk up Mt Buffalo, finishing at the Old Buffalo Chalet. The official finish line is at the top of the Chalet steps where finish times are recorded; water and electrolyte are provided at the finish.

Car parking for the event is organised at Porepunkah Recreation Reserve with shuttle buses to the start; short term parking is available near the picnic ground for drop-offs. Participants should follow parking attendant instructions. Public toilets and portaloos are available at the picnic ground.

Day 1 uses a massed start format and competitive runners are advised to seed near the front. Remaining runners and walkers are released within a short window after the first group to spread the field; a narrow bridge sits about 100m from the start. The route crosses Mt Buffalo Road four times; participants should take care at these road crossings and follow any official instructions.

Aid on course is limited to a single water point at Mackies Lookout, approximately 4.6km from the finish. Walkers should allow up to four hours and plan to be self-sufficient; alpine conditions can change quickly and an updated list of mandatory gear is provided by the organisers.

The following day is Mt Feathertop Day 2 on Sunday 1 November 2026. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
