Mt Beauty Running Festival

The Mt Beauty Running Festival is a community-driven event held in the Upper Kiewa Valley, Victoria. Based at the Mount Beauty Secondary College oval on Pool Road, the event takes place against the backdrop of the region's autumn scenery. The festival includes a variety of running and walking events to accommodate different interests.

Participants can choose from several distances:

  • 3 km run
  • 10.6 km run
  • 18 km trail run
  • 21.1 km run

The festival features a Schools Challenge Competition where teams of students and staff compete for a cash prize for their school. Points are awarded based on the top five finishers in each team across any of the four events, with the lowest average points determining the winner.

The event operates with an environmental focus and is plastic cup free. Drink stations along the course provide water and sports drinks for refills, but participants must carry their own drink bottles or hydration packs. Local community groups support the day with operations such as a bake sale and BBQ, with proceeds benefiting local organizations. Facilities at the Mount Beauty Swimming Pool are also utilized for the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
