The Mt. Baldhead Challenge takes place on September 12, 2026 in Saugatuck, Michigan. The event offers the following distances:

  • 10K+ (around 7 miles)
  • Half Marathon (13.1 miles)

Both courses run over multi-terrain routes that include woodland trails, forested sand dunes, waterfront views, and town streets. Each course includes a climb up Mt. Baldhead, which requires ascending 302 steps. Chip timing is used and the race uses staggered starts with separate waves.

Logistics and registration

The finish and post-race area are located at Coghlin Park. Packet pickup is handled at the Community Church of Douglas on September 11, 2026 and on race day. Parking is available at Oval Beach and the Community Church of Douglas, with shuttle buses between those locations; participants are advised the Community Church is an option to avoid roadway congestion. Hydration stations with water and Gatorade are distributed along the course and portable restrooms are located at Oval Beach, Coghlin Park and other course locations.

Priority registration for prior participants and 2025 wait-listed runners opens October 18, 2025; public registration opens November 1, 2025. The event has a no-refund policy but allows deferral or transfer of registration and offers race insurance at registration.
