Move Free Whoopie Mile : Bar Harbor, Maine

The Move Free Whoopie Mile is a running event held on July 3, 2026, at the College of the Atlantic campus in Bar Harbor, Maine. The course is a 0.25 mile loop on campus and the Eden Street sidewalk; about half of the loop is pavement and half is gravel. The loop has minimal elevation. The transition zone where participants eat their whoopie each lap is located near the Whale Skull at the campus main entrance. Parking is available on campus or within walking distance from town.

The event requires participants to eat one whoopie per 0.25 mile lap. Each whoopie must be finished before the next lap begins. A participant who vomits during the event is disqualified.

Distances and divisions:

  • Solo Mile Division: 4 loops (1 mile) and 4 whoopies
  • Relay Division: 4 loops (1 mile), 2 to 4 team members, and 4 whoopies
  • Solo Endurance Division: repeated 1-lap efforts with 1 whoopie per lap; laps must be completed in under ten minutes

Individuals may enter both the Solo Mile and Solo Endurance divisions; the first four whoopies count for the mile before continuing in endurance. Prizes include the title of Move Free Whoopie Mile World Champion until the next event, plus awards for team names, costumes, and other categories.
