Blue Hill Mountain Trail Fest

Blue Hill Mountain Trail Fest is a multi-distance trail race and community gathering on Blue Hill Mountain in Blue Hill, ME. The event uses a figure-eight course and a shorter upper loop that together produce different race distances.

Distances offered:

  • 5k
  • 10k
  • 25k
  • 50k

The 5k route starts at the Mountain Rd field, includes a short out-and-back on the Post Office Trail, then ascends Osgood Trail to the summit before descending the Service Road trail back to the start/finish. The 10k follows the upper loop plus a full figure-eight for a second summit and descent. The 25k comprises three full figure-eight loops after an initial upper loop. The 50k consists of seven full figure-eight loops.

Trail surfaces include open fields and densely forested technical singletrack. Runners encounter wildflower fields and coastal viewpoints from the mountain. The race hub at the start/finish serves as the main aid station with hydration, varied snacks including vegan options and whoopie pies. A smaller aid station at the Post Office/Osgood/Mountain Rd intersection provides water, electrolytes and limited snacks. There is a designated drop-bag area for 25k and 50k entrants.

The event is Trail Sisters Approved with equal podiums and awards, women’s specific apparel and menstrual products at aid stations. Profits support Blue Hill Heritage Trust and Wabanaki Alliance. Packet pickup is scheduled Friday evening in the Mountain Rd field, with an optional pre-race meeting to review the course. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
