Mountain Madness - 50 Mile Relay

Mountain Madness is a 50 mile relay held in and around Ashley National Forest near Vernal, Utah. The event offers individual entry or team formats with teams of two, four, or eight runners. The course runs from the Red Cloud loop turnoff to Remember the Maine Park and follows trails and roads through forested terrain.

Support on the route includes HAM radio operators and porta potties. Runners may use a support vehicle to carry water, supplies, and snacks; there are no organized aid stations along the course. Packet pickup is scheduled for Friday, August 14 at the Uintah Recreation Center and the morning of the race at the starting area; for a printed event shirt guarantee, registration is required by July 30.

Trail runs nearby

A 5 mile loop trail event on June 6, 2026 near Gull Lake in the Uinta Mountains, featuring 6 hour and 12 hour endurance formats plus a 5 mile speed run, with aid stations, 1,193 ft elevation gain, and cash prizes for new course records.

An endurance elimination race on July 18, 2026 at McCoy Flats Trail Head, Vernal, Utah. Competitors run repeated 4.1 mile laps each hour, must finish each lap within the hour, and the last runner earns cash per lap.

Experience a trail run through the Uinta Mountains and Ashley National Forest. With a half marathon and 10K option, runners enjoy scenic views of Dry Fork Canyon and autumn foliage along the Flume Trail.
