Mountain Madness

Mountain Madness on August 15, 2026 is a 50 mile relay event held in Vernal, Utah that follows a route through Ashley National Forest. Teams may compete as 8, 4, or 2 person teams, and there is an option to run the full course solo.

The course begins at the Red Cloud loop turnoff and ends at Remember the Maine Park. The route is supported by HAM radio operators and portable toilets placed along the way. Runners may use a support vehicle to carry water, supplies, and snacks; there are no organized aid stations on the course.

Packet pick up is scheduled for Friday, August 14 at the Uintah Recreation Center from 5:30am to 5:00pm, with additional pickup available at the starting line the morning of the event. For a guaranteed event shirt, registration is required by July 30.

An elimination endurance race in northeastern Utah where runners repeat 4.1 mile laps each hour and are removed if they fail to complete a lap or start the next one. The last runner earns 50 USD per lap completed.
